Community Highlights: Meet Amber Pimentel of Mother Nature’s Massage Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Pimentel.

Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began massage training in 2014 and received my license in 2015. My children were the foundation in me starting my own business. I knew it would allow me the time to spend with them and also create a source of income for my family. Having my own business means I get to create my own schedule that truly revolved around my daughters and now my son. My son was only a thought in 2014 but I still kept him in mind when starting my business. He is now 9 and has grown up in the massage studio. Most of my clients have seen him grow up over the years which is one of the best parts of being a small business owner, getting to see my clients family grow! I really love what I do! I tell my clients all the time I can’t imagine doing anything else. I feel I have found my true calling as a massage therapist. But, of course I wouldn’t still have a business if it weren’t for my clients and a few special people along the way. I am extremely grateful for everyone I have crossed paths with through my massage business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge has been wearing all the different hats on small business owner has. From social media to marketing to creating new ways to engage clients and new clients. Its been trial and error. Although I say it has been a challenge for me it has been a fun. There’s no rule book so I get to make up my own.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mother Nature’s Massage Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I offer a variety of modalities which include, Swedish; which is a lighter pressure massage, Deep Tissue, Prenatal (pregnancy massage), Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, which helps flush out our lymphatic system for general health benefits, Post Surgery Lymphatic massage, and last but not least Ashiatsu massage, which is where I use my feet to massage rather than my hands. Ashiatsu aka Barefoot Massage is personally my favorite modality for my clients to experience at least once, given there aren’t any contraindications. Side note: I also love doing Ashiatsu massage since my baby brother installed the bars used with this technique, I’m a little more sentimental about it. Mother Nature’s Massage Studio offers all the same “add-ons” or “enhancements” as any other massage spa but with a more personal approach. Being an independent massage therapist gives me more time to spend with each client before and after their session making them feel more cared for. I have curated a massage studio unlike any you will see at the bigger massage chains. As soon as you step inside the studio you are able to feel tension slowly leave your body, you feel a sense of calm with the nature sounds in the background. The walls covered in greenery, moss, mushrooms, and a serene forest mural make you feel like you’ve escaped into nature. I pride myself in being able to keep my prices affordable because I believe massage isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. Everyone is working long, stressful hours and everyone deserves to include massage therapy into their self-care routine.

How do you think about luck?
Luck is a tricky word. We all know it takes work more than luck to be successful. I do believe in people being placed in our lives for a purpose. Thankfully I’ve had people in my life who saw the potential in me that I couldn’t quite see then and still struggle to see. I have people that have been placed in my life to help me along my journey whether with words of advice, or encouragement and a few that carried me when I felt like giving up both personally and professionally.
