Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Jacob.
Hi Jeremy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been a lifelong entrepreneur. I was the kid in the back of the classroom selling candy to my classmates and mowing lawns in the summer. I operated small businesses while in college, but didn’t really do anything exciting until I opened Float Wellness Spa. Float started small and simple with three float tanks, but what started as a bold leap into the emerging world of sensory deprivation quickly grew into one of the city’s most beloved wellness destinations—earning accolades such as San Antonio Magazine’s “Best of the City” and SA Current’s “Best Place to Get Pampered.” Float has been featured in industry publications and media outlets for its innovative approach to wellness and floatation therapy. More importantly we worked hard to create a sanctuary for folks that didn’t feel like spa or wellness was for them. Embracing communities and people that were left out of the conversation from Veterans with PTSD to the LGBTQ+ community. Everyone had to feel special and welcome in our space, because you can’t heal or recover if you don’t feel safe and cared for.
Probing the question of how to make wellness and recovery more accessible led me to our new model “Evolve Social Wellness”. Evolve is the first facility of it’s kind that houses over 20 services that are accessible without an appointment and at a much more affordable price. Our self serve model changed the game by allowing us to offer more for less. We created a social wellness space that continued our mission helping more people to feel welcome in wellness. We have expanded this model through franchising and now have locations in Dallas and Round Rock with Austin coming in 2026. Float is about to celebrate it’s 10 year anniversary and I say it’s still the best spa in San Antonio.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When it comes to entrepreneurship and founders, there is an dynamic of the conversation that gets left out. It’s the safety net. We didn’t start with a lot of money, so we had to use creativity, grit, and hard work to find success. We moved forward boldly, but when you have everything you own on the line, you have to operate in a different way. There are great founders out there who have done amazing things, but they had a head start and a safety net. It’s not the same “risk portfolio”. I tip my cap to the girl that lives in her car to chase her dream and the immigrant that risked much more than I ever have for a better life. There are always struggles in business ownership, but there is also always someone that has had a harder road.
I am proud of my creativity and ability to use that skill to work around challenges or financial limitations. We use creativity to find solutions that fit our budget without sacrificing quality. We offer experiences and services that you won’t find anywhere else because we built or created them ourselves. We work with local artists to create visual elements rather than the easy off the shelf or print art. It takes more time and sweat, but the end result is something people can feel. We hear all the time that our facilities have a vibe. That vibe comes from creating something with passion, inspiration, and collaboration that is a living thing. You can’t buy that.
We’ve been impressed with Evolve Social Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We like to call Evolve the “Un-Spa”. It’s a response to the country club type wellness centers and spas that most people don’t feel welcome in or can’t afford. Evolve is a social wellness playground that is meant to be enjoyed with friends. It’s a place in San Antonio where you can have a date night or a get together with a friend doing something that is healthy and feels good. We cut out the pretentious gurus and the bad music that most people think of with a wellness center or spa. You choose your own adventure because it is self serve and never requires an appointment. You show up when you need to feel better, move at your own pace, and try the things that interest you. Rather than getting caught up in endless stream of influencers telling you what the latest wellness trend is, you try things for yourself and see what feels good. Most importantly we offer visits under $25 right now. We are democratizing wellness and it is so much more fun when everyone gets to join the party.
Our most popular services are the Norwegian Sauna, Cold Plunges (we have three at different temps), Full Body Red Light, Infrared Sauna, Luxury Massage Chairs, Electric Sound Bath, Compression sleeves, along with pretty much everything you would find an a professional locker room for workout recovery.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I was a punk rock kid with a 12″ mohawk in the 90’s and I rode a live bull for 3.7 seconds.
