Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Hosseini Browder.
Hi Margaret, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Elite Tax has been part of my life for 22 years, but the real story started long before the firm existed. I grew up watching people I cared about struggle with money not because they were irresponsible but because they didn’t have anyone to guide them. Money is one of the biggest sources of stress in people’s lives, and tax season puts a bright, unforgiving spotlight on every financial fear or unknown. Seeing that stress up close is what pushed me into this work.
A lot of anxiety around taxes comes from simply not understanding the process: what applies to you, what doesn’t and what you’re allowed to claim. People are busy. They’re overwhelmed and when you’re overwhelmed, even a simple filing obligation can feel like an avalanche. I wanted to build a firm that flips that dynamic on its head.
In the early days, Elite Tax was just me working late, learning fast and doing whatever it took to help people breathe easier. Every client who walked out with clarity instead of panic reminded me that this wasn’t just accounting. It was advocacy. It was empowerment.
That mission is why Elite Tax exists: to take something intimidating and turn it into something people can finally control. Over the years, we’ve grown into a top performing firm with the infrastructure to meet complex needs, but we’ve never lost the personal touch. We’re big enough to handle anything you throw at us, yet small enough to know your name and care about your outcome.
Two decades in, the heartbeat of this firm hasn’t changed. We’re here to help people feel safe, confident and supported in an area that most find overwhelming. While I’m proud of how far we’ve come, our mission remains the same: guide people, protect them and raise the standard of what a tax firm should be.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building anything over 22 years comes with seasons that test you in ways you never expect. In the early days, the struggle was simply survival. I was working around the clock juggling clients, deadlines, paperwork, family responsibilities doing everything myself and learning as I went. There were nights when the pressure felt overwhelming, but I kept going because people depended on me, and quitting wasn’t an option.
As the firm grew, the challenges changed. The emotional weight of this work is real. Clients don’t just bring tax documents, they bring fear, stress and sometimes years of financial hardship. You see the impact of job losses, medical bills, divorces, IRS notices and life situations that have taken a toll. Carrying that with people is meaningful, but it can be heavy.
Growth also brought its own obstacles: hiring the right team, learning to delegate, navigating seasons when we were understaffed or overwhelmed and adapting to an industry that changes constantly. Every tax law update, IRS delay or economic shift created new hurdles we had to overcome quickly and calmly.
But every challenge taught me something. Those hard seasons made me a stronger leader and shaped the culture of Elite Tax. They pushed us to build systems, strengthen our team and stay deeply committed to supporting clients through whatever life throws at them.
No, the road hasn’t been smooth but it has been meaningful. Every obstacle added to the firm’s resilience, heart and mission. Seeing someone walk in worried and walk out relieved makes every difficult chapter worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
If I had to choose one thing to highlight about my work, it would be the “why” behind it. My career was never built on numbers it was built on people.
For more than two decades clients have walked through my doors carrying fear, confusion, or shame about their financial situations. Taxes touch every part of a person’s life: their confidence, stability and sense of security. When someone sits in front of me feeling defeated my job is to replace that fear with clarity. That moment when they realize, “This is fixable,” is what keeps me doing this year after year.
Professionally, Elite Tax specializes in individual and business tax preparation, complex tax problem resolution, IRS representation, bookkeeping, small business consulting and forensic tax analysis. We are also a year-round firm not a seasonal operation so clients have support and guidance every month of the year, not just during tax season.
We’re known for taking on the complicated, sensitive or high-stakes cases that many others avoid—multi-year cleanups, audits, reconstruction of records, fraud detection and situations that require a deep understanding of both numbers and human circumstances.
What sets us apart is our balance of accuracy, advocacy and humanity. We combine the resources of a large firm with the personal attention of a small one. Clients don’t feel like transactions here, they feel seen, heard and protected. I take the time to explain things in a way people can actually understand, and my team follows the same philosophy.
I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built over 22 years. People come to us during some of the most stressful financial moments of their lives, and they walk out feeling lighter, informed and supported. That trust has shaped our firm’s identity and continues to be the standard we uphold every single day.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing people find peace again. In my work, there’s a very real human moment when someone walks into my office carrying fear, shame, or years of feeling “not good enough” because of their finances. Then we sit down and talk through their situation in a way they can finally understand and something shift. Their shoulders drop, their breathing slows, their whole expression changes.
That moment when someone realizes, “I’m going to be okay”… that’s where my happiness lives.
I get joy from watching hope return to a person’s face. From hearing them say, “I feel so much better,” after walking in convinced they were facing a financial disaster. That transformation is the part of my job that fills me in a way nothing else can.
Money struggles are isolating. People carry that stress silently. When someone trusts me enough to share their fears and I can turn that fear into clarity, it reminds me why I’ve stayed in this profession for 22 years. It’s not about numbers—it’s about the people behind them.
On a personal level, what makes me happiest is knowing my work matters on a human level. Helping someone rebuild confidence, regain control and walk out lighter than they walked in… that’s what fuels me.
At the end of the day, happiness for me is simple: helping people feel safe again.
