Today we’d like to introduce you to Pili Gonzalez.
Hi Pili, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Pili González, and my journey began in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Since I was a little girl, my dream was to be a singer. I was always surrounded by music and would pretend to be a radio host—and guess what? I grew up carrying that same calling: to sing, to be close to music, and to communicate. From a very young age, I felt a deep connection to stages, artists, creativity, and the magic of expressing myself in front of an audience.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications in Monterrey, specializing in radio, hosting, acting, music, and artistic expression. Even before graduating, I was already living my passion. In Monterrey, I worked as a television host for Multimedios Televisión on the show Los 10 de Súper Estelar Caliente, and I ran my own events and promotions agency, collaborating with major brands, large-scale concerts, sporting events, and well-known artists. My company became one of the most recognized modeling and event agencies in the city, opening doors for me to work with entrepreneurs, public figures, and prominent artists.
Life, however, had a different path prepared for me—one that required courage, faith, and starting from scratch. When I moved to the United States as a resident, I had to leave behind my business, my career, my contacts, and the life I had built. I arrived without speaking English and with the humility to begin again. My first opportunities came through commercial work in Houston, and later I moved to San Antonio, Texas, where new doors slowly began to open.
I began recording voice-overs for Azteca 31, and during that stage I also joined the program Noches de Fiesta, announced segments like La Hora Ganadora, and served as the U.S. correspondent for Ventaneando, the iconic show hosted by Pati Chapoy. Once settled in San Antonio, I studied Makeup Artistry and Cosmetology, which allowed me to work professionally in beauty, image, makeup, and personal care. I also had the honor of serving as a coach for Miss XV San Antonio and as Coach for Miss San Antonio, guiding young talents in stage presence, expression, confidence, and personal development.
And then, radio found me. Alfonso Flores, the Spanish Program Director at Alphamedia Radio—now Connoisseur—invited me to join the company after several weeks of training to master the audio console and broadcast systems. I went on-air at La Ley 95.7 FM, marking the beginning of my formal radio career in the United States. Three years later, an unexpected opportunity opened at Norteño 104.1 FM and 720 AM: to temporarily cover a morning shift. What was supposed to last only one month became a decisive moment in my career. The audience connected with me, ratings increased, and I was officially invited to join the Morning Show, where I continue today.
The journey was not easy. I auditioned for Univision multiple times, reaching the finals but never being selected. I faced rejection, closed doors, and moments of doubt. But every “no” was God redirecting me toward His purpose. Today, with 10 years on the air in San Antonio, I know that my role is much more than being a radio host. My microphone is my ministry.
My purpose is to reach the heart of the community—to motivate, uplift, inspire, and remind people that they are never alone. Every morning,
I show up with love, gratitude, passion, and faith, knowing that God placed me exactly where I am meant to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has not been easy. When I arrived in the United States, I faced the challenge of starting over from zero—leaving behind my business, my career, my home, and everything familiar. Learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and rebuilding my professional life required courage, discipline, and unwavering faith.
There were moments of doubt, rejection, and closed doors. I auditioned for opportunities that never materialized, I encountered setbacks that tested my strength, and I lived seasons where the path ahead felt uncertain. But every challenge shaped me. Every obstacle taught me resilience. And every “no” redirected me toward something greater that God had prepared for me.
My two children have been my greatest motivation.
They are the reason I never gave up, the reason I kept going even when life felt heavy. Every achievement, every breakthrough, every moment of growth has been driven by my desire to show them that with faith, discipline, and courage, anything is possible.
I learned that the most difficult moments are often the turning points in our lives. When things feel impossible, that is usually when God is working the most. My faith has carried me through every step of the journey—because when you walk with God, even the mountains move.
No dream is too big when faith goes before you.
Keep going, even when the road seems uncertain…
your victory is often on the other side of the struggle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am proud to be recognized as one of the leading voices in Spanish-language Regional Mexican radio. Every morning, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, I have the honor of accompanying my listeners wherever they are—on their way to work, at home, or starting their day with hope, music, and motivation. For me, being part of someone’s morning routine is a privilege. My voice becomes a bridge that connects our community and reminds us that we are never alone.
My show, Morning Show with Pili González, is designed to serve, uplift, and celebrate our community. Within the show, listeners enjoy segments that have become beloved traditions:
✨ La Pulguita del Aire – a free community marketplace where people can announce what they sell, rent, buy, or even give away, creating a beautiful network of mutual support.
✨ La Hora de los Trabajos – a space dedicated to helping people find employment, supporting those going through difficult times, and celebrating every listener who secures a job through the free announcements.
✨ Pídemelas Cantando y te las Pongo – a joyful, interactive segment where the audience sings, participates, and fills the show with positive energy.
✨ Palenque Norteño – an exciting musical showdown where listeners call in to vote for their favorite song.
Being a radio host is more than a career—it is my calling. My purpose is to inspire, motivate, and bring a message of faith and hope every single day. During my live remotes, I am blessed to meet listeners face-to-face, receive their love, their stories, and their sincere support. These moments fill my heart and remind me why God placed me in this profession.
I feel deeply grateful and blessed to be with my community every morning. God knows how much it has taken to get here. The path has not been easy, but thanks to the love, loyalty, and support of my listeners, I stand where I am today—and together, we have many more years ahead. God is great, and the best is yet to come.
Beyond radio, music is also a powerful part of my work. Every year, I release new songs with love and dedication, and I invite everyone to follow my music on all digital platforms and on YouTube as Pili G.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Likes:
What I love most about San Antonio is its heart. This city has a unique way of embracing you from the very first moment.
San Antonio is rich in culture, history, faith, and community—a place where traditions are honored, families are strong, and people support one another in a genuine and authentic way.
As a radio host, I have the privilege of feeling this closeness every day. San Antonio is a city that listens, that supports, that shows up. Its warmth reminds me of home, and its diversity inspires me to use my voice with purpose.
I love the cultural blend, the food, the music, the spirit, the generosity, and the beauty of the people who make this city feel like family.
San Antonio didn’t just give me a home—
it gave me a mission, a microphone, and a community I carry in my heart every single day.
I love you, San Antonio!
Dislikes:
If I had to choose something, it would be the traffic during peak hours. But even that is a small detail compared to everything this city offers us. San Antonio remains a wonderful place to live, work, and grow—
and I love it, traffic and all.
