Meet Ada Watt of Pleasanton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ada Watt.

Hi Ada, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a local to South Texas, born and raised. My family has deep roots here. I married my childhood sweetheart and have been married for almost 30 years. I was a school teacher till I left teaching to take care of my parents. After their passing, I wanted to work at Nest Feathers part time because I loved people and /I loved our community. /I started there and ended up buying the business two years ago.

The store will be 22 years in establishment but the building will be 170 years old. It started as two separate owners – one owned upstairs and one owned downstairs. Upstairs still has the original kitchen and stage. Downstairs was a radio station at one time where Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush started as DJ’s.

The store is a local favorite in my opinion. We still do wedding registries, carry local goods, home decor, western decor, women’s accessories, kids items and hidden antiques.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the owner of the store

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We love our customers coming in to shop or just enjoy the store. We also have a cute patio that our customers enjoy year round. We have it set up for Christmas right now
