Exploring Life & Business with Evelyn Brango, LPC-S of Vida Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Brango, LPC-S.

Hi Evelyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a teenager, I felt a deep pull toward counseling. Growing up in church, I saw firsthand how many people longed for healthy, faith based guidance, and something in me knew this was the path I was meant to follow. Over the years, I worked with children, couples, men, and women, but I eventually discovered that my true calling was walking alongside women of faith.
Today, I support women navigating self-esteem challenges, depression, anxiety, the stresses of motherhood, and the many transitions that come with each season of life. It has become my passion to help them find emotional, spiritual, and mental wholeness.

Part of my work also includes public speaking and empowering women to step into their full potential. Never did I imagined I would be called into public speaking but God had it in His plans for my life. As someone who grew up in Guatemala, I understand the challenges many women face when pursuing their dreams. From language barriers to resources and such. That experience fuels my desire to encourage others, to remind them that with support, faith, and courage, their goals are within reach.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth, but every challenge shaped me. I moved to San Antonio, Texas right after high school, leaving behind my immediate family, my childhood friends, and even the comfort of the food and culture I knew. I came with one goal: to pursue my degree in psychology.

What I didn’t expect were the emotional and financial struggles that came with starting over. English is my second language, so stepping into college courses like government, history, and politics, subjects I had never studied, felt overwhelming. I had never written an academic essay, much less in English. In Guatemala, I had graduated as a kindergarten teacher, so my training was focused on early childhood education, not writing papers or preparing for a university pathway.

But with perseverance, prayer, and the belief that God was opening and closing doors with purpose, I kept going. Those challenges pushed me to grow. I eventually earned my bachelor’s degree, completed my master’s, became licensed, and built the career I once only dreamed about.
From being raised in Guatemala, to moving back to Texas to attend college having Spanish as my first language, to opening up my very own private practice and even being interviewed for Telemundo and Univision for their mental health segments, I can certainly say it is worth to fight for your dreams surpassing the challenges life may throw our way.

As you know, we’re big fans of Vida Counseling . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Vida Counseling was born on November 30th, 2019, a day that marked my first patient and the beginning of a dream.
Since then, Vida Counseling has grown into a place of healing, support, and growth for men, women, adolescents, and couples.

While we serve a diverse group of clients all over Texas, my personal passion and specialty lie in working with women. I feel deeply called to support women who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-worth, and self-esteem.

My mission is to help each woman recognize her true value, who God created her to be. Together, we work through past wounds, identify triggers, and develop healthy coping skills that lead to lasting healing and emotional freedom.

I am also passionate about holistic approaches to mental health and continually pursue ways to help my clients achieve complete well-being. I am a certified Integral Mental Health Provider and am currently working toward my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification) to better serve women in every stage of life, including pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

At Vida Counseling, we are committed to serving the Hispanic community by providing counseling services in Spanish, ensuring that language is never a barrier to receiving mental health support. We believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, culturally sensitive care, regardless of language or race. We make sure every counselor working at Vida is passionate about their calling to serve others.
We also offer workshops for the community in both Spanish and English as a way to reach and support more individuals at once. I truly believe this has been a door God has opened, allowing me to reach more women and walk alongside them in their healing journey. This year, I was able to release a Workbook called “Healthy Self-esteem” where I go over the 10 practical tools I use in my office to help women gain confidence in themselves. It is available in Amazon in the English and Spanish version. Our workshop for the workbook was called Coffee and Confidence.

We also offer mental health Immigration Evaluations for those applying for different types of Visas.
Pre-marriage counseling is also offered as post of our services.

All services are offered in English and Spanish

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I used to be very shy and struggled with my own self-esteem. That personal journey is one of the reasons I am so passionate about helping women develop a healthy sense of self-worth. I have experienced firsthand the transformation that happens when we begin to believe in ourselves and in what God says about us.
