Community Highlights: Meet Amy Bittle of Amy Bittle Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Bittle.

Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path into cybersecurity didn’t start in a boardroom. It started in Middle Tennessee, where my family ran a respected veteran-owned computer and Internet Service Provider (ISP) shop. I grew up helping clients, building computers, and seeing firsthand how technology could make real life easier. It taught me service, problem-solving, and that technology should help people feel empowered—not confused.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University, which taught me to explain complex ideas simply. That skill became invaluable early in my career when I began supporting the military—first working with NCIS and later as a contractor supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). That experience showed me cybersecurity isn’t just about systems. It protects missions and the people behind them.
Over the years, I worked across biotech, life sciences, and other regulated industries, where cybersecurity plays a key role in patient safety, scientific progress, and operational trust. I saw that leaders needed guidance they could actually understand and apply, not technical jargon tossed at them.

In 2023, I launched Amy Bittle Consulting, LLC to help organizations strengthen security in a way that feels clear and doable. We serve clients across the United States from Texas—San Antonio and the Dallas–Fort Worth region—supporting business leaders who want to protect what they’re building and prepare for what’s ahead.
Every step of my journey pointed me toward this mission. What started in a small Tennessee shop with my family has become a career focused on helping organizations grow securely, confidently, and with integrity.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth. Leaving structured environments to build a business from scratch meant I had to become everything at once—the strategist, the implementer, the marketer, and the one introducing the company to the world. That shift required new skills and a lot of patience.

A major turning point was when the company I worked for was acquired. I had a choice: return to another familiar role or take the risk to build something of my own. I chose the second option, even though the timing wasn’t perfect.
Building strategic relationships has also taken time. In cybersecurity, trust is everything. Forming partnerships with organizations like AI Certs, InfoSec IQ, and WinPure required consistently showing up, demonstrating value, and proving reliability.
Looking back, every challenge helped sharpen my focus. They taught me that growth isn’t always fast, but it is always worth it. I’m proud of the foundation we’ve built and energized about what’s ahead.

What sets us apart is simple:
We protect people first.
When teams feel informed and empowered, security becomes a strength—not a stumbling block.

What makes you happy?
I’m happiest when I’m helping people feel confident in areas that once felt intimidating. Whether it’s a business leader who finally understands a security risk clearly, or a team that feels more equipped after training, those moments remind me why I do this work. I love watching that shift from uncertainty to empowerment.

I also find real happiness in the simple, everyday things: cooking dinner for my family, discovering a great restaurant in a new city, or laughing with the people I love. My work requires focus and responsibility, so those moments at home or out in the world keep me balanced and grateful.

Progress makes me happy, too. Seeing a project move from idea to execution, or watching my company take its next step forward, brings me a sense of purpose and excitement. Building something that impacts others positively is one of the best feelings.
