Check Out The Frog & Bandit’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Frog & Bandit.

Hi The Frog & Bandit, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our story starts in 2016 when Jack, a solo artist at the time, decided to round up his roommates and put together a couple of demos to start making the music he originally could only make in his head. We found Brandon through an online music channel for locals, and the rest is history! Ted joined shortly after, and he’s the one who would later bring Dez and Josh on board. It’s been wonderful to be on the receiving end of so many chance meetings.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being in a band in and of itself is a challenge- we’re lucky to be in a group where we can communicate and make decisions with consideration for one another. We love one another and things feel solid. This definitely hasn’t always been the case and people come and go.
We’ve been victim to a years-long hiatus and only found our footing again within the last few years, to say nothing of maintaining that footing. I think we’re doing pretty great so far. In particular, we are proud of releasing our first full length album titled, “Impending Cycle of Loss” which released May 2025.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re a band called The Frog & Bandit! We play a fun kind of indie-type rock heavily inspired by some of our favorite post rock and math rock groups. Our stage presence, aesthetic flair, and especially the artwork by our very own guitarist, Brandon, really set us apart in a way that we can’t help but be totally in love with. We always make sure we let ourselves have fun with what we do, and it really is apparent.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
There is no shortage of live shows to see in San Antonio! Typically you can find a variety of bands performing in any bar. What we appreciate is the ability to perform in non-conventional places such as coffee shops, city parks, or even the parking lot of your local video game store! Being able to perform for those who may never set foot in a bar, but may love live music is a great experience! That being said, it can be difficult for the average resident to know where live music is happening if they are not already tuned into the local music scene. Fortunately, the city has been highlighting local musicians to wider audiences to check out, and we love seeing the support from the city.
