Community Highlights: Meet Kelly Smith of Flocking Fabulous

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Smith.

Hi Kelly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Flocking Fabulous started in our homes garage, originally called Smith Sisters Custom Designs – Named after my adopted grand daughters. Our story began with just a Cricut die cutting machine and a few rolls of vinyl. We wanted to provide unique and fun designs for our girls. Then the local school needed help making decor and crafts for the kids. What began as a way to inspire creativity in our kids and community boomed into several storefronts throughout south Texas over the years. We currently reside in Victoria Texas. Known as the Pink House, we are now Flocking Fabulous. A whole storefront operation that caters to crafters new and professional. We are community focused and here to help everyone create amazing apparel, décor, and keepsakes for every occasion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many struggles. Like many small businesses, navigating a world where Amazon and big box stores can easily undercut you has always been a challenge. But being creative has kept us ahead. From moving our family many times to life’s challenges we have faced a lot.

We’ve been impressed with Flocking Fabulous, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a store that offers Direct to Film printing services, as well as apparel and accessory products that help makers of all levels create amazing things. What sets us apart from others is that we aren’t just here to sell. We are here to teach, inspire, and support our community. We have always believed that working together with everyone, from side hustlers to shop owners, makes our hometown stronger! We also are proud that through our efforts, we can frequently give back to our customers. We want readers to know that crafting is not hard, and stores like ours do exist to encourage them to get creative and make those small business dreams come true!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our incredible employees. Without them, our store wouldn’t be the same. Each one of them brings their talent and joyful personalities that hep us offer a diverse array of services and creations!
