Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Garcia.
Erika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
What began as two friends (myself Erika Garcia and Samuel Davis) simply enjoying music together grew into a shared vision- transforming their passion for playing into performance and ultimately into a thriving business. After establishing our business, we grew from a duet to a trio and eventually into a quartet. As three of our members moved on to new opportunities, Strings of the Crossroads cellist Erika Garcia continued the business with the addition of a new violinist (Myra Simmons) and violist (Ori Ebner). While our violinist and violist began their musical journeys in middle school, our cellist discovered a passion for music in late elementary school. Though we graduated high school in different years, our shared love for music brought us together, allowing us to create, perform and grow a business built on passion and friendship.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been relatively smooth, even when it came to finding replacements for the members who moved on to new opportunities.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a group of musicians dedicated to providing live music for weddings, intimate ceremonies, and private events offering thoughtfully curated performances that enhance each occasion. While string ensembles are traditionally associated with classical music, we distinguish ourselves by performing a diverse selection of genres beyond the classical repertoire. Our repertoire spans a variety of genres including pop, classical, and nostalgic oldies.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We aim to continue bringing joy to people during life’s most significant moments for many years to come.
Pricing:
- $100 per musician ($200 for duet, $300 for trio)
- Additional $50 for outdoor events
- Additional $100 for events outside of Victoria for traveling expenses
