Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr, Donna Speeks Armstrong.
Dr, Donna Speeks, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For 25 years, I served as upper management for the then leading fitness center of San Antonio; Racquetball and Fitness Clubs turned Spectrum Athletic Club, and lastly Gold’s Gym.
While in supervisory and leadership roles over these 25 years, I was introduced to Coaching.
Our Coach was Dave Bove’, a former Pepsi executive. I will never forget this experience of being coached. It was the way myself and the others responded to the coach’s approach that captured my attention. I didn’t realize that it could be a profession, but I love the way it made me feel.
Coaching in its pure form is a true act of empowerment. it was them that I decided I wanted to be a professional coach and inspire intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs alike to excel in their endeavors. Having an innate desire to see people become the best versions of themselves emotionally, psychologically, and mentally, as well as physically, I was led to the art of Professional Coaching.
After 25 years in the health club industry, it was time to expand my influence and my reach. I enrolled in the School of Behavioral Health Science through the Counseling Department at Liberty University with a passion to support people in their quest for personal and professional development. I was able to complete my academic degree of higher learning in Psychology, Counseling, to include an earned Doctorate in Christian Counseling..
After attaining my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a life coaching cognate, I launched my first business wing, Wellspring Wellness Manifest. The vision remains the same that is to support others in leading healthy, hopeful, well-balanced, more optimistic, and productive lives. Completing the first year of private practice, I returned to academia and completed my Master’s degree program in Counseling.
Growing from there, the WWM Center for Inspired Living, LLC was born.. One vision, multiple pathways to success; offering coaching, consulting, preventive medicine counseling, while supporting clients with complementary therapy aids, and strategies that foster personal enrichment and forward-focused growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The beauty of life can be found in the most challenging times.
I do not believe that the road to entrepreneurship is a straight shot.
There or many pitfalls and ditches that one can get caught in.
My most difficult struggle had been to pace myself and realize I’m not i n a race to entrepreneurship, and remember that creating a lifestyle that serves me well. It can be most difficult to pull back . When you love what you do it is easy to overwork yourself leading to fatigue. Many entrepreneurs face this challenge because of the stress and excitement associated with launching a new business, the uncertainty of constant income, etc. Entrepreneurs forget that It takes time to build. Because i had vison without a well thought out exit strategy from my previous career, I lacked the accounting or the entrepreneurial gaps. I thought I knew what I really wanted until I was in the midst of it and saw that I had created a job and not business. Entrepreneurship that is successful in my eyes is doing what you love to do, getting paid what you desire, and having enough resources for a life of leisure and business success. Now I able to share experiences with other entrepreneurs ad lifestyle busine leaders.. We do, we observe, we review, and we revise, and we seek support when necesary.
