Hi George, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Kirchman’s Private Tours is owned and operated by George Kirchman. George is a Fredericksburg local who has a 12 year history in law enforcement. He loves interacting with the public and meeting new people.
After speaking with visitors about what kind of services would be ideal when visiting our town, he decided to start his own tour company. Kirchman’s Private Tours was started with the intention to provide customized services that fit the unique needs of each individual client.
Our customers love the ability to plan their day as they wish. They are able to tailor their own unique brewery, distillery, or wine tours with no limit on times or places they can visit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been somewhat smooth, but due to the volume of visitor’s we receive, there are a lot of other businesses like ours, so it’s definitely been a little bit of a challenge getting our name out there. We’ve worked hard at building relationships in the industry with other tour companies and venues which has helped us greatly!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kirchman’s provides customized, private tours. This can be a wine tour, distillery, brewery, scenic tour, or a mix of anything! Our focus is on what our visitors are looking for. We try to tailor everything to what they have in mind rather than a cookie cutter experience. Flexibility is very important to us. We also like to be sure we make the planning as easy as possible on our customers so it’s a seamless experience and as stress free as possible!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our success has been in implementing this business plan as a family team. Our business is made up of family and very close friends. It all started with my ideas and then my wife helped throw everything into motion. She built a website, came up with the everyday logistics like how we invoice, taxes, business accounts and making everything as professional as possible, while supporting all of my ideas. It started out part time, so we did have numerous family members who helped us out on the weekends until we eventually grew enough for this to become a full time business! Our family deserve many thanks for all of the support we’ve had from them in helping build and run our business!
