Meet Hollee Becerra of Kaleidoscope Mental Health Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hollee Becerra.

Hi Hollee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in San Antonio, and it’s here that I first realized how deeply people need spaces where they can be seen and heard. My path into mental health has been shaped by both my own experiences and what I witnessed in the community around me.

I started out as a therapist because I believed deeply in the power of human connection and healing, but along the way I saw gaps in the system: therapy that was too expensive, environments that weren’t inclusive, and communities that were left out of the conversation. That’s what inspired me to create Kaleidoscope Mental Health Collective. I wanted to build a space where therapy could feel collaborative, creative, and truly accessible, where both clients and clinicians could show up authentically.

My journey hasn’t been linear, it’s been full of learning curves, balancing entrepreneurship with the heart work of therapy, and trusting my vision even when it felt risky. But every challenge has reinforced why I do this work. Today, through my private practice, Kaleidoscope Mental Health Collective, I provide individual therapy that can be accessed virtually and accepts insurance, making care more accessible. In addition, I run a nonprofit that offers free online mental health groups, training and opportunities for up-and-coming counselors, and advocacy for marginalized communities, allowing us to reach even more people and explore projects that combine mental health, creativity, and community building.

Looking back, I see my story as one of turning challenges into fuel for change, and looking forward, I’m excited to keep expanding how mental health care can look and feel for people who deserve it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Kaleidoscope Mental Health Collective while supporting my family as a single mother has been challenging, especially balancing financial responsibilities with my commitment to making therapy accessible. There were years when I worked three jobs to build my practice and provide for my family. A large portion of my caseload has always been on a sliding scale, which allows me to support clients who face financial barriers to care. Many of the communities I work with, including LGBTQIA+ individuals and autistic clients, often encounter systemic and economic challenges that can make accessing traditional therapy difficult. These experiences motivated me to start my nonprofit, allowing me to expand access to mental health care and provide additional support to underserved communities while still maintaining a sustainable private practice.

These challenges have taught me a lot about perseverance, creativity, and staying true to my values. Even with the financial and logistical struggles, the work has reinforced why I do this every day and strengthened my commitment to creating spaces where therapy is accessible, inclusive, and truly supportive.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kaleidoscope Mental Health Collective is a private therapy practice designed to make mental health care accessible, inclusive, and personalized. We specialize in individual therapy that can be accessed virtually, allowing clients to receive consistent, high-quality support on their own terms. Our focus is on creating a collaborative space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered in their healing process.

What sets us apart is our emphasis on meeting people where they are. We work with diverse communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent clients, and others who may have historically been underserved by traditional mental health care. We are known for combining clinical expertise with a compassionate, client-centered approach that values authenticity and creative problem-solving.

We are most proud of the trust and connection we have built with clients and the way our approach allows people to feel genuinely supported and understood. Kaleidoscope is more than just a therapy practice. It is a space designed to adapt to people’s lives, needs, and experiences, where clients can feel supported, understood, and empowered in their mental health journey.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about San Antonio is its vibrant culture and the sense of community that’s woven throughout the city. From the art and music to the rich history and the diversity of people, there’s always something inspiring to see and experience. I love that the city feels alive with creativity and that there are so many ways to connect with different communities and perspectives.

As for what I like least, I’d say it’s some of the growing pains that come with a rapidly expanding city, like traffic and access to certain resources. But even those challenges are opportunities to come together, find solutions, and build a stronger, more connected community. At its core, San Antonio is full of heart, resilience, and pride, and it’s a city that continually inspires me in my work and my life.
