Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Barquero.
Hi Cindy , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We began five years ago with a small coffee trailer in downtown (Southtown, la vaca district) , and two years ago we officially opened our coffee house and roastery on Callaghan Road. Having our own roastery gives us full control over quality, allowing us to roast fresh coffee weekly and deliver a premium product not only to our community but also to local coffee shops in San Antonio, Austin, Edinburg, and Laredo, Texas.
I didn’t come from a coffee background—in fact, I knew very little at the start. But coffee chose me. As a coffee lover, my passion made it natural to learn, innovate, and create unique drinks while building strong relationships with customers.
What began as curiosity has grown into a mission: to serve exceptional coffee, foster community, and share our passion through every cup.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I had no background in the coffee industry, so I had to learn everything from the ground up—roasting, sourcing, coffee operations , and even the business side of things. There were long nights, financial risks, and moments of doubt, but my passion for coffee and the people we serve kept me moving forward.
Starting as a trailer was exciting but also challenging—we were working with limited space and resources, often figuring things out as we went. When we opened our coffee house and roastery, the struggles shifted to bigger responsibilities: maintaining consistency, managing growth, and making sure every roast and every cup lived up to the standards we set for ourselves.
What kept us going was the support of our community and the belief that coffee is more than a drink—it’s a way to connect people. Every challenge taught us resilience, and those struggles became the foundation of who we are today. Thank you to every single person who continue loving us and supporting us! Gracias Familia.
We’ve been impressed with Kulture Kafe Coffee Roasters , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At our core, we’re more than just a coffee shop—we’re a roastery and a community hub. We specialize in roasting, which allows us to carefully control quality and freshness every week. Our focus is on serving premium coffee that not only tastes incredible but also creates an experience for our customers, whether they’re enjoying a latte in our shop or brewing our beans at home.
What sets us apart is the balance between creativity and quality. We love creating unique drinks that you won’t find anywhere else, while also staying true to the craft of coffee roasting. We’re known for our freshness, consistency, and the genuine connections we build with the people who walk through our doors.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the journey—from starting in a coffee trailer to now roasting and supplying coffee not only to our own customers, but also to local shops across San Antonio, Austin, Edinburg, and Laredo. It’s proof that passion and persistence can grow into something bigger than we imagined.
What we want readers to know is simple: every cup of coffee we serve represents our dedication to quality, creativity, and community. Our goal is to share coffee that not only wakes you up, but inspires you, connects you, and leaves you with something memorable. Everyone is welcome here!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways people can work with us or support what we do. For coffee lovers, the simplest way is to visit our coffee house, Callaghan or Our Southtown location. try our unique drinks, or take home a bag of freshly roasted beans. Every cup shared helps us continue doing what we love.
For local businesses, we also offer wholesale partnerships—we roast and supply coffee to shops and cafés across San Antonio, Edinburg, and Laredo, and we’re always excited to collaborate with new partners who value fresh, quality coffee.
We also love creative collaborations, whether it’s pop-up events, community projects, or partnering with local brands to bring something unique to the city.
Most importantly, spreading the word is one of the biggest ways to support us. Every recommendation, social media share, or kind word helps us grow and connect with more people.
At the end of the day, our mission is about community—and anyone who believes in good coffee and meaningful connections is welcome to be a part of it.
