Today we’d like to introduce you to Persephone Carrillo.
Hi Persephone, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Starting at the age of 3, I watched The Wizard Of Oz and Hannah Montana and knew I wanted to become a famous performer. I started taking ballet/jazz classes at 3 and then moved into Hip-Hop, Tap, and K-pop dance styles as I got older working with numerous studios such as Collective Dance Artistry, Ballet San Antonio, SMASH Dance Studio, and Texas Cheer and Dance.I started taking vocal lessons at the age of 12 at School Of Rock in Stone Oak and progressed into getting my own private vocal coach. My acting journey began with taking theatre courses as a young child and it progressed into my middle school and high school years.I have performed at numerous theaters such as The Tobin Center, the Aztec, Woodlawn Theatre, and even more. I have even been a performer at SeaWorld San Antonio and am now a performer at Six Flags Fiesta Texas as well. Also, I am excited to be portraying Carrie in Carrie The Musical at Woodlawn Pointe on October 10th!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, there have been some tough times. Life can get challenging but at the end of the day, you just have to progress through it. My number one priority is always to strive to be the best that I can be and focus on my future ahead. You have to get through what life throws at you, so you can come back on top and be better because of what you had to go through.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of all the achievements that I have made at such a young age. Being only 19 and having gotten the opportunity to be Carrie in Carrie The Musical, getting to have danced in multiple Sesame Street Parades at SeaWorld San Antonio. and getting to sing on a professional stage at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is insane to me. I still feel that I have so much of my life to still go through. What sets me apart is just how much growth I have made just in a few years, who knows where the future will take me!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think that my positive attitude and the way that I handle criticism is what has been most important to my success. I tend to try to focus on the good things in my life as well as take any notes that have been given to me. I always want to celebrate the good and the fails. Even if I don’t get a role or a job, I try to just take it as it wasn’t meant to be right now but that doesn’t mean that you won’t get it in the future. Just keep going and you will keep progressing.
