Today we’d like to introduce you to Analy Diego.
Hi Analy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
One of the most distinctive attributes of my work is the use of bold, contrasting color palettes. This not only represents my admiration for color theorists such as Josef Albers, but a cultural connection to my roots.
I was born in Laredo, Texas and grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; being a part of both countries and cultures has always felt like a blessing. The contrasting, yet complementary experiences I have had throughout my life have shaped who I am as an artist and person.
Art was introduced to me at an early age by my grandfather, a skilled cartoonist. I started painting at the age of six, and continued doing so until I joined Architecture School in 2004. Moving to San Antonio felt right at the time, and I was right. San Antonio is a city that embraces people from all walks of life, a city that truly resonates with me, my past and how I foresee my future.
Today, I consider myself a San Antonio artist and interior designer/professor. I am grateful to my city for giving me opportunities to express myself artistically, and most importantly, for allowing me to be involved with community projects, such as the recreation of the Henry B. Gonzalez mural, now on permanent display at the HBG Convention Center, and the creation of artwork inspired by San Antonio’s 1968 World’s Fair, for The ‘68 Apartments at Hemisfair.
In addition to my personal artistic practice, I lead Studio AD, a multidisciplinary design studio based in San Antonio. At Studio AD, we focus on the creation of thoughtful and inspiring commercial and residential interior environments. Our work often bridges disciplines—clients frequently ask us to incorporate their branding into the physical space, or even to develop a complete branding package that complements the interiors. We also offer art creation and art curation services, driven by a strong belief in the power of local culture and talent. As passionate supporters of San Antonio’s vibrant art scene, we strive to integrate local artwork into our projects in meaningful ways. Our goal is to craft spaces that are not only visually compelling, but that also carry a distinct cultural identity—and above all, make people feel joyful and connected when they experience them. We are currently expanding our work to other areas in Texas, and welcome opportunities outside of the state as well. In every project, no matter the location, we take the time to study the surrounding context and culture, aiming to give each space the unique identity it deserves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced throughout my career has been self-doubt—that nagging feeling of wondering whether an idea is good enough or if I’m capable of bringing it to life. But I’ve learned that the only way through it is to just go for it: take the idea, try it out, and see where it leads. Sometimes it works out beautifully, sometimes it doesn’t, but either way, it’s always worth it. It’s through this process of trying, refining, and trusting my instincts that I’ve grown—not only as a designer, but as a person. Embracing risk and imperfection has been key to building a creative practice rooted in authenticity and continual evolution.
As you know, we’re big fans of Studio AD. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Studio AD is a multidisciplinary design practice based in San Antonio, Texas, where we specialize in creating thoughtful, visually compelling commercial and residential interiors. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly blend art, design, and branding to create spaces with a strong sense of identity. Whether it’s a boutique, restaurant, office, or home, we approach every project with the same philosophy: great design should feel authentic, culturally grounded, and emotionally resonant.
Clients often come to us not just for interior design, but for help in building or refining their brand. We’re known for taking branding beyond logos and packaging—we bring it into the built environment, making sure a brand’s personality is reflected in every detail of the space. We also offer custom art creation and art curation services, with a strong focus on showcasing local talent. San Antonio has an incredibly rich and vibrant art community, and we’re proud to support and elevate that through our work.
What makes me most proud is that our brand is deeply rooted in authenticity. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. Every project is a chance to tell a story—whether it’s rooted in our client’s vision, the surrounding context, or the culture of the city it lives in. We’re currently expanding our work across Texas and beyond, and wherever we go, we carry that same approach: we take the time to understand each place, and aim to create spaces that feel meaningful, joyful, and one-of-a-kind.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We’re always excited to connect with people who share our passion for thoughtful, creative design. Whether you’re looking to transform a space, develop a brand, or collaborate on an art-focused project, we’d love to hear from you. You can work with us by reaching out through our website or social media to schedule a consultation—we’re happy to chat about your ideas and explore how we can bring them to life.
We also love collaborating with other architects, designers/creatives, artists, and makers, especially those rooted in local culture. If you’re interested in partnering on a project or someone who wants to support the integration of art and design in your space, let’s talk! And if you simply want to support our work, sharing what we do, visiting the spaces we’ve helped shape, or attending art events we’re involved in makes a huge difference.
At the heart of everything we do is connection—so whether you’re a potential client, collaborator, or supporter, we’re grateful you’re here and look forward to working together
