Today we’d like to introduce you to Darla Schneider.
Hi Darla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my business 15 years ago! I was frustrated with trying to find a pad that I felt would allow my saddle to fit closer to my horse and not slip!
With the help of my dad who had a leather business and trained race horses for over thirty years, and my husband, who trained roping horses! We worked hard to design that pad! With many protocols , and giving them to people to try and give us feed back! Schneider Performance Pads was created!
One of my first customers was Renea Youree Ward and Kay Young! Also, many friends and family that supported me!
I’m so very blessed with having amazing horsewoman such as Emily Biesel, Kylie Weist, Ceri Ward, Joy Wargo and many more successful in our industry!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was difficult to get them out to the public. Thanks to friends, family and the great ladies I sponsored and facebook!
I never went anywhere that I wasn’t carrying a pad to show anyone that would look .
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I hand make every pad myself! It’s fun creating new color patterns and designs! I also make a very useful line of shims to help with saddle fit! I was a thoroughbred race horse trainer for 15 years, licensed in 21 states! We moved to Oklahoma and I started horses and competed to Barrel racing and team roping, later on breakaway roping!
I am very blessed to have such a unique business that I love to share, and see how I can help others to reach their goals with their horses
How do you think about happiness?
Spending time roping with my husband Tim. Playing with my beautiful dog Redford! Love riding and competing on my Barrel horses!
