Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Trevino.
Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Taylor began playing tennis in my hometown of Harlingen, Texas, at just six years old. As her passion and talent grew, she made a pivotal move in 2020—relocating to San Antonio to be closer to high-level training and more competitive tournament opportunities. Her dedication quickly set her apart, and by the age of 12, she signed with Yonex Tennis.
Now a top-ranked junior, Taylor has competed in national tournaments across the country. She is proudly coached by her father, Alejandro Trevino along with Adrian Valdez at the prestigious San Antonio Tennis Academy, where she continues to elevate her game and chase big goals.
Taylor comes from a long line of athletes, including her mom, a former college volleyball player. Her ultimate goal is to play college tennis.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Over the past few years I’ve overcome challenges like many injuries and including the mental part of this sport. For a very long time,I had a hard time believing in myself and often compared myself to other players , and making myself believe I shouldn’t be there and left me questioning if it’s even worth it to be on court. I would get nervous before every single practice and honestly not even want be there at all. The constant practicing , working out, traveling for tournaments, and waking up early on the weekends makes me sometimes wish I could just live a normal teenage life , but In the end it’s all worth it and makes me who I am. “
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a competitive junior tennis player , I train year-round and compete in high-level national tournaments across the country. I’m proud to be one of the top-ranked juniors in my age group.
What sets me apart is my work ethic and mindset. I’m willing to do the extra work—whether it’s early morning training, or staying focused when the pressure’s on. I also come from a family of athletes, so I understand what it takes to succeed in competitive sports. I’ve had to grow up fast in this sport, and I take pride in how I carry myself on and off the court. More than anything, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much further I’m willing to go to reach the next level.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
