Today we’d like to introduce you to Krisann Blanchard.
Hi Krisann, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Little Light got started 10 years ago when Jana’s twins saw a candle making kit in a craft store and wanted to buy it. We didn’t buy that little kit though; instead, Jana did research on candle making. In her research, she learned how many candles can be toxic to you and your home. After ordering her own clean candle making supplies, they started making candles in their kitchen for themselves, friends, and family.
After graduating from college, Krisann came alongside her Mom and started rebranding and marketing the candles, officially launching the company in early 2020. What began as a family passion project has now blossomed into a mission-driven business, committed to creating clean, safe, and beautifully crafted candles that people can feel good about bringing into their homes. Today, Little Light Candle Co. continues to craft clean, high-quality candles that bring warmth to homes across the country.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our journey hasn’t been entirely smooth, but we’ve embraced every challenge as an opportunity for growth. The term “fail forward” has been our guiding principle through every obstacle we’ve encountered. Each setback or mistake has been a valuable lesson, teaching us more about our business, ourselves, and the importance of resilience.
We’ve learned to be deeply grateful for our wins, which have consistently outweighed the challenges. One of our greatest discoveries has been the incredible support network around us. We’ve been blessed to have people who have cheered us on, offered encouragement, and provided practical business advice at just the right moments. These God-given relationships have been instrumental in our success, turning potential roadblocks into stepping stones for our business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Little Light Candle Co., we’ve crafted a unique business that goes far beyond simply selling candles. We’re known for our vibrant, colorful candles that are meticulously created with clean ingredients, but our true passion lies in the experiences we create. Our studio at Sparrow Field Estate offers custom candle making classes that are more than just a workshop – they’re a journey of creativity and connection.
What sets us apart is our deeply personal approach. As a mother-daughter business, we pour our hearts into every aspect of our craft. We are intentional about every detail, from carefully curating each scent to designing every label. Nothing is rushed to market; we thoughtfully develop and refine our products, ensuring each candle meets our high standards.
Our candle classes are truly special. Participants don’t just make a candle – they learn the art of scent blending, creating a completely custom fragrance that’s uniquely their own. We love watching families and friends come together, crafting candles and making memories in our studio. The joy of seeing people connect, laugh, and create together is incredibly rewarding. And for many, the unexpected delight comes from glimpsing the longhorns grazing in the field just outside the workshop space – a quintessential Texas moment that adds magic to the experience.
What we’re most proud of is not just the candles we create, but the memories we help people make. Each class is an opportunity for connection, creativity, and joy – and that’s what truly makes Little Light Candle Co. shine.
