Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Fleming.
Hi Logan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! My name is Logan Fleming and I grew up in San Antonio Texas, I went to public school in San Antonio all the way up until my sophmore year of high school where i then switched over from Smithson Valley High School, to San Antonio Christian where i graduted from in the class of 2020. Also known as the COVID year, as we all know. I was always a golfer and played some different sports in between but always enjoyed spending time with my friends, i eventually decided to further my education and attend Northern Arizona University for my college degree. if this sounds super random, its because it is! My family was moved there for work reasons my senior year, they later came back to San Antonio, but i wanted to go to a school where i could experience some snow, shockingly as a Texan, i enjoy the cold. i went to college during the pandemic which meant zoom masks and chaos lol! but never failed to still have a good time of course. I lived in Flagstaff Arizona for three years, joined a sorority and became a sister of Alpha Phi until i realized i needed a change, i wanted something different and bigger and better. So i applied to be a flight attendant. Months into my senior year i received my job interview and later job acceptance to Southwest Airlines as a Flight Attendant. This was a life altering career decision and life altering decision in general, but ended up being the best one i could have made. I went to Dallas and interviewed for the position and was given the job, i then returned back to Dallas weeks later for the intensive four week training program to graduate with my wings. While all of this is going on i was still completing my degree, which is my most important message that genuinely anything is possible with some ambition, dedication and a redbull. Let me set the scene, it is week three in Flight Attendant training and were learning irregular operations, but it is also midterms! Time management was everything! but the truth is that when you really want something, you are going to achieve it, and i wanted those flight benefits!…. kidding, kind of . After the 4 weeks of training at the Southwest Headquarters, i returned to Arizona and thought what now. I had to find a way to finish my degree, fly for work full time, and manage my relationships, we were booked and busy! Was this decision strenuous on my relationships, sure, but everything works out how it is supposed to and sometimes you need to do what is best for you. I then moved back to San Antonio and finished my degree online and commuted to my home base for the first few months of my career. I graduated from NAU in 2024 with a Hotel Restaurant Management degree, that I plan to use for event planning and marketing opportunities. I now live in Scottsdale Arizona, while my family and friends reside in San Antonio. I learned from this experience that the most random opportunities will present themselves and while they may seem wrong or not at the right time, if it feels right, chase it! Get out of your comfort zone, because your hometown will always be there and in my case, thats San Antonio!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? never heard of it! While I have been doing something that i love, it has come with many different obsticles. I first had to commute to Las Vegas from San Antonio, the tried to move to Denver and be based there until finally deciding to move to Arizona and be based there and try to find some sort of consistency. This career comes with many challenges when it comes to relationships, whether its romantic, friendships, or family. It is hard to be there person to miss holidays or be in a different city every night. But San Antonio and your family will always be there, the right people and relationships will always be there, The new ones…. may take some adapting but who doesn’t love a travel buddy. You will miss home, romantic partners will have a hard time understanding, but it is worth it to leave your comfort zone to do what you love, and in my case it was to travel.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. I serve in the sky and travel the country, what else could a girl really ask for! While also holding the responsibility of peoples lives and safe air travel of course. As flight attendants we have to have different certifications that involve medical training, firefighting, and acting under pressure in other irregular operations. I am most proud that i have achieved this career while working for my college degree. I plan to stay and do this job until i retire. I enjoy chatting with people and hearing their stories and feel as though i have found the perfect job for me.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Since i was a little girl I have always been super outgoing, friendly, and energetic. I enjoy making new friends and having spontaneous experiences. I was sporty and enjoyed golf and basketball growing up. I always enjoyed traveling and exploring but never did i think i would pursue it to this extent. I was very close with my family and enjoyed time with my friends, football games, and shopping at la conterra!
