Today we’d like to introduce you to Dempsey Warren.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For as long as I have memories, my most joy-filled ones are where my people are gathered together. I truly feel most alive when I am surrounded by a group of people that are enjoying being with each other. When I was choosing which college degree to pursue, I couldn’t quite articulate that feeling quite yet but I did know that event planning and entrepreneurship were where my passion & skill set seemed to meet up. I pursued a degree in Sports, Event and Tourism Management followed by an MBA in Marketing from the University of Texas- San Antonio while competing on their NCAA volleyball & basketball teams. After graduating with my MBA, I gained invaluable experience in both the wedding and corporate event industry while learning from some of the best in the business. I was so satisfied in my work but still felt this calling to start my own wedding and event planning firm that would serve people the same way Jesus did… with humility and excellence. And that is how Water to Wine Hospitality was born! A firm that would come alongside people and make the times when all their people were gathered some of their most joy-filled memories, like they are mine.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like in everything, there are some growing pains! As a small business owner, I think one of the hardest things is figuring out not necessarily how to “do it all” but what to outsource so I can “do it well”. One thing that has really helped me alleviate the work load is finding a team of like-minded event managers that can keep the standard of the Water to Wine Hospitality work through all of their interactions with our clients & vendors.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We have found a niche in private ranch/private estate weddings that take a lot of logistical thought & work to execute. Because of my background in large-scale corporate events, I am able to bring that expertise into the wedding industry and help clients who want to host a beautiful wedding weekend on their private ranch/private estate and make it logistically seamless. Even those who host a lot on their property, aren’t normally hosting hundreds of people and all of the vendors needed to pull it off so having our expertise has been priceless for many couples. Of course, we serve many clients that are not hosting their wedding/event on a private property but our logistical expertise is still a huge gift to them.
How do you think about happiness?
In my personal life, I am most happy when I see my children uncovering so many of the joys that this beautiful life has to offer. The joy of traveling, the joy of friendship, the joy of creativity, the joy of hard work, the joy of a job well done!
