Hi Fred & Stephen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started our business in 2017, with a focus on walking tours in the downtown and King William areas of San Antonio, TX, often sharing ghost stories and lore that we learned from our childhood. Over the years, our company has grown to host two different para-cons each year. We currently have 6 different tours on locations scattered around San Antonio and the south Texas area, where we take guests inside the property, host a tour and an investigation. We also offer various types of spiritual consultations. In addition, we have a podcast called Curious Travels by the Morbid Travel Guide, and a blog called The Morbid Travel Guide. Both can be found at morbidtravelguide.com. We are actively blogging about American dark tourism. We also discuss the death-positive movement in our blog and podcast. We are currently archiving local San Antonio history and architecture. On a personal note, we enjoy reading, traveling, visiting cemeteries, vintage Las Vegas, photography, thrifting and hiking. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The COVID 19 pandemic in 2020 changed the way that we do business. We were shut down as a business for over 60 days. At that time we offered spiritual consultations through Zoom and telephone. We then shifted from large group walking tours to boutique intimate experiences at various haunted locations throughout the city. We’ve also faced challenges with construction in the downtown area, homeless and even preachers interrupting our tours.
We’ve been impressed with Curious Twins – A Tour Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Curious Twins Tours is a local family-owned tour company that curates tours and events in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Operated by Fred Garza-Guzman and Stephen Garza-Guzman, the duo specializes in dark and morbid history and its subsequent haunts. Tours share a mixture of history, folklore and paranormal experiences. Fred and Stephen have been interested in the paranormal since childhood. Both avid readers take pride in sharing seldom told stories of the region, making it a point to share Native American history and culture. What sets us apart from others is that this is not just a gimmick for us. We truly love history, learning and listening to people’s own haunting experiences. We often share our own experiences with guests in hopes of allowing them a space to talk about their own interests and haunts. We share a variety of different spiritual communication techniques and equipment, and allow all guests to participate on investigations.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is enjoying what you do and being excited for the next day, and not getting your thumb in a photo.
