Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Aquino.
Hi Paloma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After losing my parents and getting laid off from a job I had for four years in inside sales at a dog food distributor, I came to San Antonio to spend the holidays with family. I had just sold my car and didn’t have much, but they offered me a place to stay and a chance to get back on my feet. I gave myself 30 days to find a job and a car—and I did both. That was back in 2014.
Now, in 2025, I’m a homeowner and business owner. I started my cleaning business, VPD, at the end of 2023 to step away from corporate life and do something I’ve always loved. I used to help my brother with his cleaning company as a young adult, and it became a side job I really enjoyed over the years. One day my best friend said, “Paloma, you’ve always been a cleaner—why not start your own business?” So I did.
My goal is bigger than just cleaning homes. I want to eventually open a nonprofit to help people get their homes in order—not because they can’t afford it, but because they need the help. I believe when your space is clear, your mind is too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not an easy road when launching a business. I have had many hurdles doing this on my own from pricing to products to nonpayments. It has all been valuable learning lessons for sure.
We’ve been impressed with VPD Cleaning Services , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
VPD is a residential and commercial cleaning business built on care, trust, and a true love for what we do. Cleaning has always been a part of my life—something I not only grew up doing but also genuinely enjoy. We specialize in creating clean, organized spaces that help people feel better in their homes and workplaces. Whether it’s routine cleaning, deep cleaning, or move-in/move-out services, we aim to bring peace of mind through a clean environment.
What sets VPD apart is the personal connection and purpose behind the work. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and like you’re starting over, and I’ve seen how a clean space can make a huge difference in how someone feels and functions. That’s why our approach is thoughtful, reliable, and detail-oriented—because it’s about more than just cleaning, it’s about helping people feel grounded.
I’m most proud of how VPD was built—from starting with nothing to becoming a business with a mission. It’s not just a job, it’s a calling. In the future, I plan to grow VPD into a nonprofit that supports people in need of cleaning services not because of cost, but because of circumstance.
I want people to know that when they hire VPD, they’re not just getting a service—they’re getting someone who cares about their space as much as they do. Because Clutter in your space is clutter in your mind
What matters most to you?
Mental health because if we are not ok in our mind we are not ok everywhere else.
