Today we’d like to introduce you to Brayden Williams.
Hi Brayden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from a small town in Upper Michigan called Gladstone. I’ve spent most of my life there and I always call it home no matter where else I go. While I was living in Michigan, I contemplated a lot of my time trying to figure out what I wanted to focus on in life as a career or occupation. With all my goals and interests in mind to sum it up simply, I wanted to change or improve people’s lives. Having this in mind, it definitely didn’t make it easy trying to focus on a specific occupation because there are so many careers that can meet that goal in so many different ways. Police officer, dentist, psychiatrist personal trainer etc. I discovered that out of all the occupations I wanted to focus on the more into the medical field. From there it definitely narrowed my choices but then a memory came up in my mind of when my mother taught me a massage technique to help her with her rheumatoid arthritis that she suffered from within her hands and neck. I remember seeing the relief that she acquired from me helping her and from there my curiosity pushed me forward towards researching and uncovering the potential of massage therapy and the possibilities of how I could help improve lives.
I discovered so much information about what massage therapy can do and from there I was sold. I gained as much information as I could and located a wonderful school here in San Antonio at the Academy for massage therapy training. Then in December of 2016 I packed up all my things and drove all the way across country to San Antonio. I immediately got an apartment and began attending school at the Academy for Massage Therapy Training soon after. From there, I graduated in August of 2017 and immediately began towards taking the MBLEX to achieve my license.
Unfortunately, it didn’t get any easier from taking the exam Because with the difficulty of the test, I unfortunately failed three attempts. I was so driven to succeed that I didn’t care how many attempts it took, I wasn’t going to quit. I would spend countless hours re-studying even as I worked as a guest service associate at Spa D’ Sante to make sure I passed for the 4th attempt. Then officially in 2020 after 2 years of trying I passed on my 4th attempt and became licensed as a licensed massage therapist.
I immediately began working as a licensed massage therapist at Spa De Sante Health and wellness center. From there,
I discovered and learned so much from my fellow therapists and peers. I learned that there was so much more than relaxing massage. I learned that with massage therapy, you can actually help people with physical problems and injuries from so many different occasions. From there, I reached out further towards advanced massage therapy and sports massage therapy. I discovered that my focus was more driven towards the medical side of massage therapy than relaxation, because it showed true progressive results in a session to actually help people and improve lives, either in athletics or just day to day living for anyone. Once I became certified as an advanced body work specialist after 2 years of being licensed, I decided I wanted to focus 1000% on giving myself the biggest challenge of running my own practice and taking everything on by myself. I said my farewell to spa de Sante Health and Wellness Center, thanked all my peers, supporters and fellow therapists for everything that they’ve done and left to take on the challenge of running my own business.
Fast forward to today, it has been 3.8 years or (1416 days) that my practice has been opened. I have definitely hit some major challenges that would humble anyone. Regardless of the obstacles that have come my way I have never stopped And because of that I have achieved so much progress and success in my practice on my own. Clients alone, I have obtained about 300. I have taken part in many events from working at ACL festival in V.I.P to providing sports massage therapy for many gyms such as many LA fitness locations, Transcend Fitness, Astro World V.I.P, Hemisfair Wellness Event, Fighting Gyms, High schools Etc. I’ve provided my work from San Antonio to Austin and even provided some work back home in Michigan.. I’ve achieved so much in such a short time, but I still see a long road ahead of me of what I can accomplish. I’m so driven to take this as far as it can go. Matter of fact, just three weeks ago I achieved my top 2 biggest business goals that I’ve been striving for since I first started with a new official record of 20 sessions in one week and 70 sessions in one month!
On top of that I’ve also obtained a new business partner who is actually my fiancé and together we now provide massage therapy from myself, as well as esthetician skin care services from my fiancée. There’s so much more growth, people to help and achievements to be made and I cannot wait to make it all happen. I’m only 29 I’ve still got plenty of drive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. As statistics would say, 80% of business quit or fail within the first 1 to 3 years.
I’m extremely happy to say that I’ve definitely come on top of that. The obstacles that I’ve taken on from struggling finances,
not meeting my own criteria for completing and booking sessions that I needed to meet, Physical injuries that would temporarily take me out of work and more have definitely come my way. Without my support system of friends, family, online support and clients I don’t think I would have been able to keep going. But now I can definitely say I am more stable than I have ever been since opening.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Phoenix Works Massage Therapy?
I’m a licensed massage therapist #MT134016 and a certified advanced bodywork specialist.
I provide massage therapy that is more focused towards problem solving work.
Though I do provide relaxation and wellness services, my specialty and focus go more towards therapeutic body work, advanced massage therapy, and sports massage therapy.
I do also provide prenatal massage therapy, fire cupping and I provide massage therapy for private and local events and other businesses. I differentiate myself from the field of relaxation because it doesn’t give the physical benefit that injuries and physical problems need to progress and become better to improve an individual’s life.
I’m extremely proud of my brand, for it fits the initial goal that I have to help every individual that books with me.
The concept of the Phoenix, which is my logo and why it’s related to my practice is that with every person that has a physical problem, they can come out of a session (reborn anew) through physical manual manipulation, otherwise massage therapy.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel that one of the biggest qualities that I have towards my success would be the above and beyond motivation that I applied towards every session and every person. No session is the same, so I will never treat a session in the same manner. Everybody and every problem is different so I must concentrate and apply nothing less than 100 percent of my effort. to make the session unique and specific to that individual. I strive to take on any challenge. So, when a physical condition either medically diagnosed or new to my ears appears, I do my own research on my own time after every session And also explain to the client the plan. the plan, the assessment, everything that a client should know and more to give them a better understanding as to their problem, what we’re doing to make it better and what needs to be done overall, to further improve the situation.
My positive outlook and confidence in my work are definitely another quality of mine.
