Hi JAMIE, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Dietz Flower Shop has been in business since July 1966. Hilda Dietz Founded this flower shop right next door to her home.
She sold it in 1974 to Linda and Harry Dietz Sr. They then sold it to their son Harry Jr. Upon his passing, Jamie Lum purchased the business in 2016. She began working at the shop as holiday help in 2008. In 2011, became part time employee and then in 2012 a full time employee, and shop manager.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Service-based businesses face numerous challenges, including acquiring and retaining customers, scaling operations, managing resources, and ensuring consistent quality. They also need to navigate pricing pressures, manage customer expectations, and adapt to evolving technology. This is especially critical in the floral industry where flowers and plants for holiday sales must be ordered months in advance to obtain the best wholesale pricing.

Dietz Flower Shop and Tuxedo Rental is a full service retail florist, Tuxedo Rental is offered through Jim’s Formal Wear.

Whether it’s a wedding, a birthday, or simply a gesture of appreciation, flowers add a touch of elegance and joy that can make an ordinary day feel extraordinary.
Tuxedo rentals contribute to memorable moments by providing convenient access to stylish formalwear and reducing stress associated with special occasions such as Proms, Weddings or special events.
