Daily Inspiration: Meet Xipelotl Atl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xipelotl Atl.

Hi Xipelotl, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
During college in 2004 I spent a year working with the tour program at a large industrial brewing company in Wisconsin. I fell in love with beer culture and beer experiences. Years later a friend of mine from Chicago started an IG beer blog during Covid in 2020 which inspired me to create one as well. I had a year of sampling Sierra Nevada and Odell beers in Central Texas HEB stores in 2019. In May of 2020 CervezasUSA arrived on the scene. In the past five years I have seen many local craft breweries come and go but the memories remain. My favorite beer that I tasted and posted about was 4Shadow stout by Freetail Brewing in Southtown. It was a mesquite smoked stout with an amazing flavor. It was a limited edition run that was offered during the November 2020 La Muerta release party. One of the worst beers that I have had was Space Pizza by Martin House Brewing in May of 2021. I would describe the taste as an onion and tomato juice beer. By the way my wife hates onions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the biggest challenge has been to not fall into the trap of posting content only for entertainment purposes. I try to stay true to the beers since that what CervezasUSA is all about.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been a experiential marketing professional since 2009. I have worked with so many great brands! I am most proud of the lasting positive memories I have made with consumers. Sometimes it is cheering someone up while waiting in a long line or helping someone that is grocery shopping forget about their bad day. Being a genuine person and having those real interactions has defined my work. There is an art to getting a laugh and putting a smile on a random stranger’s face. Listening to people is also a very underrated skill since most people would like to have their voices heard.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was when I was 13 and I was a non-union extra in the baseball scene in Dazed-and-Confused back when it was filmed in Austin.
