Life & Work with Martha Rice of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Rice.

Hi Martha , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began in Chicago, Illinois, where I grew up watching my parents go through a painful divorce. As a child, I didn’t have the emotional tools to process what I was feeling. So, like many do, I pushed it all down. I wore a brave face, ate my emotions, and kept moving because that’s what was expected.

My safe space became sewing. As a seamstress, I found peace in the process of creating something whole from scattered pieces. Without realizing it at the time, that creative outlet became the foundation for my purpose: helping others take what’s broken or hidden in their lives and make it whole again.

Over the years, I faced burnout, emotional overwhelm, and silent struggles that no one could see, but I kept going. It’s that lived experience that now fuels my work. I know what it feels like to live in survival mode, and I’ve made it my mission to help others rise from it.

Today, I help individuals, couples, and families heal broken relationships, navigate life transitions, and reconnect with themselves, with others, and with God. I’m passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and emotionally safe, because I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformation that happens when emotional wounds are acknowledged and healed.

My approach is holistic; mentally, emotionally, physically, relationally, and spiritually. Whether someone is facing a personal storm, a relational breakdown, or a season of reinvention, I walk alongside them as they rewrite their story and rediscover their strength.

That little girl in Chicago didn’t know it at the time, but her journey through pain, resilience, and creativity was the beginning of a calling to help others transform their lives from the inside out.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, my journey has been anything but smooth. It has been filled with detours, dead ends, and divine reroutes. However, every bump in the road shaped who I am today and deepened my passion for helping others heal.

One of my earliest struggles was learning to function while emotionally fractured. Watching my parents’ divorce left a deep wound I didn’t know how to name. I became a master at pretending, strong on the outside, but silently broken on the inside. That pattern followed me into adulthood, showing up as burnout, people-pleasing, emotional suppression, and unhealthy relationship dynamics.

There were times I gave so much of myself to others that I completely lost touch with my own needs. I stayed in places too long, tolerated too much, and put myself last over and over again. I know what it feels like to pour from an empty cup and still be expected to give more.

Starting a business from the ground up also came with its own set of challenges such as imposter syndrome, financial uncertainty, and the fear of being seen. There were moments I wanted to quit, moments when the voices of doubt were louder than my calling.

Every struggle became a stepping stone. Every tear watered the seeds of purpose. I had to learn how to allow God to heal my heart, establish healthy boundaries, and reconnect with the God who never left me even when I felt lost.

Now, I use what I have lived through to walk with others who feel unseen, unheard, or unsure of their next step. The road has been rough but it’s made me resilient, authentic, and deeply compassionate. And for that, I am grateful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Complete ‘N Him Transformation Life & Health Coaching, LLC, where I serve as a Mental Health Life Coach specializing in relationships, emotional healing, and personal transformation. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating emotional burnout, toxic relationship cycles, life transitions, and spiritual disconnection. My goal is to help people break free from survival mode and step into lives of purpose, peace, and wholeness.

What I am known for is my deeply relational, faith-based, and intuitive approach. I do not give surface-level advice. I help clients peel back the layers, identify emotional root causes, and rebuild from the inside out through transformational treatment plans. Whether it is healing from betrayal, restoring emotional safety in relationships, or rebuilding a sense of self-worth, I meet people where they are with compassion and clarity.

What sets me apart is my unique ability to blend clinical insight, spiritual wisdom, and practical application. I combine proven mental health strategies with emotional intelligence, coaching techniques, and biblical principles to foster true, holistic transformation such as mind, body, and spirit.

I also mentor emerging life coaches through my “Complete ‘N Him Coaching Compass” program, because I believe life coaches are essential partners in the mental health space. By equipping them with the right tools and mindset, we help ease the bottleneck in mental health services and expand access to meaningful, transformative support.

One of the things I am most proud of is watching clients go from emotionally stuck to emotionally strong, seeing their eyes light up when they realize they are not broken, just healing. I am honored to walk alongside them in that process and help them rebuild confidence, trust, and healthy connection in every area of life.

At the heart of my work is this truth: when people feel seen, heard, and valued, transformation happens. I am committed to creating spaces where that transformation can begin.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that often surprises people about me is that I love to rollerskate! It is more than just a fun hobby, it’s my personal form of freedom and joy. When I lace up those skates and hit the pavement, it is like I’m reconnecting with the playful, carefree version of myself.

Most people know me for the deep, transformational work I do as a coach, but rollerskating reminds me to embrace movement, fun, and flow which is the very same things I encourage my clients to rediscover in their own lives. It is proof that healing isn’t just about processing pain, it is also about making room for joy.
