Hi Mia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Flores Street Yoga opened in January of 2025. After practicing and teaching yoga for years we were tired of not having a yoga studio and community in our own neighborhood. FSY was born out of our personal need and desire for our community. Our studio’s vision is centered around community, accessibility, and education.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our biggest obstacle to overcome was preparing the space. Our building has been a number of businesses; a printing shop, grocery store, bar, and even a church. We had to tear down walls, open up windows, tear up layers of tile and carpet – just to get started. We have put a lot into the space to create the container for our community.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We offer a range of yoga; restorative, yin, vinyasa, hatha, and chair – a rare thing to find in one studio. But we also offer them at different intensities; foundation, gentle, and power. We do this at an accessible price, $15 for a drop-in and $89 for unlimited yoga (with options in-between) while also paying our teachers at a competitive pay scale. We truly believe yoga should be accessible, what we are doing proves that.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Both of us (Lucas and Mia) are educators. Our experience as teachers is instrumental in how we think about our studio community, how we bring yoga to our community, and how we approach learning opportunities for our team and community.
