Meet Gilbert & Sydnie of GSM Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gilbert & Sydnie.

Hi Gilbert & Sydnie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We met in San Antonio at the end of 2021 and naturally developed a connection beyond words. We spent some of our first few dates in Austin, Texas and New York City. We visited Oregon and Washington in fall of 2022. This foreshadowed a year and some months living out of state. Gilbert successfully graduated from PTA school in summer of 2023. We decided to use that opportunity to travel together and change up our scenery. This opportunity was going to allow us to live places and have experiences we wouldn’t have otherwise. We moved to Norcross, Georgia in mid August of 2023. Sydnie spent majority of her time outside discovering a love for the outdoors. Here we experienced leaves changing colors, temperature dropping, trips to Atlanta, and walking daily in what looked like a small town out of a movie for 3 months. We discussed the idea of owning a business but couldn’t quite find an idea that stuck. Next up was Sumner, Washington for winter of 2023 and some of Spring 2024. Let us just say, this was our first time being cold in the way the PNW can get. This was our first 6 month stop and it was spent snow tubing, hiking, running, spending time at parks, attending concerts, visiting Seattle. The winter really allowed us to slow down, sit with ourselves together and individually. Spring came and brought sunnier days, so many flowers, and an idea for our business. We bought a drone and begin using it, at first for fun, but then thought to incorporate it into a business. Our last stop (which we didn’t know at the time) was Portland, Oregon in late spring of 2024. “Rose City” certainly lived up to its name and we were excited to live in the area we had visited in 2022. It felt like a manifestation we hadn’t even consciously created. At this time, we experienced more concerts, lakes, swimming, waterfalls, and a gorgeous summer. Most importantly, we got engaged! We studied for and got our FAA Part 107 Drone License. Finally, Real Estate Media came into our lives and we felt internally, that this path of business was right for us. We decided it was time to come back to San Antonio to launch GSM Media. Our time away was essential to having the courage to take the leap to create a business together. We are back and better to provide high-quality real estate media to San Antonio and the surrounding areas. We are beyond grateful to work alongside each other and spend more time together. We are excited for our future and to have the opportunity to share our story.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles and challenges we have faced so far are things like creating a schedule, setting boundaries on when to stop working, communicating as business partners, having different opinions on things, pricing our services, and remembering we do not need to be perfect. However, we know that with these difficulties comes a greater strength!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our work consists of media for Real Estate. We do photography, videography, drone, real estate events, closing videos, client testimonial videos, Zillow 3D tours, 2D floorplan, virtual twilight, virtual staging, object removal, tv screen replacement, fire to fireplace, lot listing photos/video, lot lines, amenity photos, creating custom property websites + marketing kit.
