Daily Inspiration: Meet Nancy Nieto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Nieto.

Hi Nancy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our small business journey began 2020, during the pandemic. I purchased my first sewing machine and taught myself to sew. I began by making tortilla warmers and started selling them to family and friends.

Eventually, I went back to my roots, which was painting, and continued to grow from there. I was able to quit my corporate job in fall of 2021 and have been building my small business full time since then.

We now offer wholesale on a variety of our products, which allows local stores and museums to carry our items all across the United States. It is truly so humbling to see how far we have come. We hope to expand and grow even more for years to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely no walk in the park. Sometimes it feels like there are more bad days than good days, but the good always outweighs the bad.

We pretty much learned to roll with the punches, which usually means we need to take a step back to re-focus and pivot. If something isn’t working, it’s time for a change.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We take a lot of pride of making most of our products by hand. A lot of what we do is inspired my Mexican family and upbringing and the culture in San Antonio. My work is a reflection of who I am and where I come from, this is the best way I can think of to connect to others who can also see themselves in my work.
