Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Henry.
Hi Drew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Eat It Up Marketing started in 2022 with a simple goal: help local restaurants get back on their feet after COVID turned the industry upside down. I was working with spots like Biga, Maverick, and Acenar—places that really define San Antonio’s food scene—and helping them show up online in a way that matched the magic they were creating in real life.
What started as a one-man show quickly grew. In 2024, I brought on Jonathan Ramirez as my partner, and that’s when things really took off. We started landing bigger clients, expanding beyond restaurants into hotels, rooftop bars, and full-blown development projects like Downtown West and Legacy Park.
Today, Eat It Up is more than a marketing agency—we’re the team behind the curtain helping shape some of the most exciting hospitality experiences in San Antonio. And honestly, we’re just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any growing business, Eat It Up hasn’t been without its challenges. One of the biggest has been building the right team—finding people who not only have serious creative chops but also understand the pace and personality of the hospitality world. It’s a fast-moving industry, and not everyone thrives in that kind of environment.
Another challenge has been balancing the creative side of the work with the reality of running a profitable business. We’re passionate about storytelling, design, and building brands that feel alive—but at the end of the day, we also have to keep the lights on, hit client goals, and scale smartly. Figuring out how to honor our creative vision while building a business that’s financially sustainable has been a learning curve, but one that’s made us sharper and more intentional as an agency.
The growth has been exciting, but staying grounded and aligned with our original mission—helping hospitality brands thrive—has taken real focus and reflection along the way.
We’ve been impressed with Eat It Up Marketing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Eat It Up Marketing is a creative agency built for bold brands in the hospitality and lifestyle space. We specialize in helping restaurants, hotels, bars, and destination-driven experiences show up powerfully through branding, content, digital strategy, and social media.
We’re known for blending strategy with style—taking the soul of a brand and turning it into something people can see, feel, and engage with. Whether we’re launching a buzzy new rooftop bar, managing a restaurant’s online presence, or helping shape the visual identity for an entire development project, we bring clarity, consistency, and creativity to every touchpoint.
What sets us apart is our deep understanding of the hospitality industry. We don’t just make things look good—we know how to drive foot traffic, build community, and create moments that last beyond the scroll. Our team is made up of strategists, designers, and content creators who live and breathe food, culture, and experience. We move fast, stay flexible, and are constantly tuned in to what’s happening both locally and nationally.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the partnerships we’ve built and the trust our clients have in us. From iconic San Antonio restaurants to large-scale development projects like Downtown West and Legacy Park, our work lives in the real world—and it gets results.
At the end of the day, Eat It Up is about elevating hospitality brands with style and substance. If you’ve got a vision and want it to make an impact, we’re the team to bring it to life.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
It’s my opinion that you make your own luck. Luckily, I’ve only made the good kind.
