Daily Inspiration: Meet Allen Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Thomas

Hi Allen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a young boy growing up in Indiana, I found my voice and purpose in writing lyrics. At 10 years old, I was writing poetry and working on rhyming, until I was able to start recording as a teenager.
By the age of 19, I had moved to California, consumed in selfish gain.

2 years later, I found myself in a church, exploring hope in Jesus Christ and learning about the Christian faith.

Fast forward to January 2020, my wife and I left California with God leading our dreams, we moved to San Antonio, Texas.

I am grateful and blessed to report that to this date I have released well over 300 songs with over 25 projects and many more on the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my life, there have been multiple times when the I experienced discouragement and decided to step away from music. In those moments, I felt God was asking me to put down the microphone and take a break. Growing in my faith always brought me back to writing and recording songs. There has always been a song in my spirit even down to when there has been a flicker of a flame in my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Christian rapper and song writer.

I tend to gravitate towards the people most like me. I think that’s just how we are all wired. Lately, I’ve been out of my comfort zone and wanting to connect with different people, so I have really stepped out of the boat, quite literally, and started to take steps on uncharted waters in reaching others and understanding them. People that feel left out and not understood, I want them to have a voice.

Christians get a bad rap, especially Christian’s that rap, pun intended; so I really have the cards stacked against me when I introduce myself as a Christian rapper. My goal is to break down the barriers that overly religious stereotypes have created. I want my music to declare hope, love, light, truth and at the same time, sharing darkness, depression, death, failures, struggles, etc. We are all in need of a savior, and I believe that Jesus is the only one able to save us. I want my music, and most importantly, my life to declare that.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was and in many aspects, am very much still an introvert.
I am what many people classify as a vagabond or a drifter.
Never really having friends or my own group of community, I always felt like I never belonged and would withdraw.

Music gave me a voice to speak up and be heard when nobody else would listen.

I grew up on many genres of music from the sounds of The Beach Boys, Eminem, Beatles, 2Pac, and many, many more.

Being from Indiana, sports was and is very much a huge part of my childhood and current life. Football, baseball and basketball were my favorites to participate in and to watch.
