Today we’d like to introduce you to Justo Scott
Hi Justo, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m currently in the military, and have been serving in the Air Force for 29 years. I have always been pretty active between playing sports and working out. I got into bodybuilding when I returned from my deployment from Syria. Fitness for me is not a hobby or fad but a lifestyle. Working out is also therapeutic and instrumental for me mentally especially with managing my PTSD. It is also a time for me to decompress and release any stress. I discovered I truly have a passion and love for fitness and helping others when I started coaching at my friend’s crossfit gym. I want to be and example for my kids, family, friends and others, to inspire and motivate them to achieve their goals. Not just in fitness but in life as well. B.E.A.S.T. mode which means Believe Every Action Successful Transformation.
I joined Team Darkhorse and that is when I started competing as a body builder and got my IFBB pro card at the North American show in 2021. This sport is not just about be physically fit but you also have to be mentally strong. Having a good support system like my family and Team Darkhorse has helped me tremendously to accomplish what I have so far.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely, not been smooth and there has been challenges along the way. It is not always easy balancing preparing for a show when it comes to work and spending time with family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve served in the Air Force for over 29 years as Security Forces. I’m currently the Senior Enlisted Leader for the DoD Military Working Dog school house with the responsibility of training canines and military working dogs handlers, and trainers. I have deployed to seven foreign lands and three combat tours which include Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. One of my proudest moment is achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9) which is limited to 1% of the entire enlisted force.
What’s next?
I will retire from the Air Force in May completing 30 years of service. I want to train people online and in-person and eventually open up a small gym. I’m also looking forward to spending more time with my family.
