Life & Work with Brooke Conaway of New Braunfels, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Conaway.

Brooke Conaway

Hi Brooke, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Brooke Conaway, owner of Cat Haus Designs located in New Braunfels, TX. I started my business after planning my own Wurstfest themed wedding back in 2018. Originally from Houston, I have lived many lives working in restaurants, being a property manager and also managing a retail store before getting into the wedding industry. I graduated from Texas State University back in 2013 and have lived in the area ever since and moved to New Braunfels after meeting my husband at Wurstfest. We are avid travelers and food enthusiasts, constantly trying to visit new places and new restaurants along the way that we document through social media. We are animal fosters for the Humane Society and have been volunteers for over 10 years hence the name – Cat Haus. Our home itself is a zoo of sorts and we love all of our furry, feathered and scaly friends. We’ve also been the hosts of an annual banana bar crawl that is on its 11th year. Pretty much just a hodgepodge of many things in life, but our current work in the wedding industry has been about creating a unique and exciting outlook on event design. Trying to pull brides and couples out of the box of traditional wedding design “standards” and open their eyes to the possibilities that help make a wedding feel more personal and authentic to the couple. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many big names in San Antonio and have been fortunate enough to be featured in several publications and podcasts. I truly love what I do and really try to focus on bringing the joy back to customer service and engagement.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Finding your authentic purpose is never easy. From self doubt to outsider expectations and opinions, it really takes a lot of bravery and faith to step out from under the safety blankets and trust that what is meant for you will find you. There have been many times where I’ve let the imposter syndrome creep in.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We design weddings and events from San Antonio to Austin to Marfa and even international. We’re still considered a small business, but we’ve been getting a lot of recognition in the Wedding industry space lately that we are very proud of. Last year, our team and winning design was published in Southern Bride Wedding Magazine and we’ve also been mentioned on June Bug Weddings, Green Wedding Shoes, Wed Society and more. I’m truly proud of my most recent styled shoot work where we have full creative control. From creating a black light wedding to a table hanging from the ceiling, we love to keep it out of the box.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We always love to bring attention to the volunteer programs at the Humane Society and SNIPSA! It’s very important work to keep our communities feral cat / dog populations spayed and neutered as well as to find permanent loving homes for the animals that are ready!
