Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Cavazos
Hi Joel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a filmmaker since 2010 and decided to start JC Film Group in 2016. It was a calling that motivated me to spread my production wings and get more involved with my city and a professional networking community. We have been inspired to connect and engage with our audience through our work, and we are passionate about every shot we take in the field. We are proud to say that we remain loyal to our clients during and after the production process is over. We fully believe in quality over quantity. In the end, it is our clients’ success and achievements that makes us successful. That is our greatest reward and that is why we do what we do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a great challenge with growing the business since we started back in 2016. But with consistency, accountability, and always finding new ways to be creative, we have seen our network grow exponentially. One of our biggest challenges was also growing our production gear and inventory. We have always strived for staying up to date with the latest video gear and trends. Some challenges also have to do with creating a good looking set before we start filming. It’s up to us to make our final cut look good.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most known as a wedding film maker here in San Antonio, but I have shot many other projects that have allowed me to master the art of telling stories. Before going into any type of production shoot, I ask myself, “what is the best way to tell this story?” Whether it’s a wedding, documentary film, a company branding shooting, or music video. I have been doing weddings for over 10 years, so I know what to look for. But I must say that I am most proud of my first documentary that I produced called ” Heart Of Gold”. It’s a San Antonio boxing documentary that I shot and edited back in 2019. It is on YouTube if anyone wants to check it out. I think what sets me apart from others, is that I am extremely patient and optimistic, no matter the pressure. I feel like I have a good ability to read the room, along with my clients understanding on how far I can push my creativity.
What were you like growing up?
I was very energetic. Definitely an extravert. I loved staying busy and being outdoors. I’ve always had a love for street art. I carried a sketch book throughout my freshman and sophomore year of high school. My main sports were baseball and boxing. Not everyone knows this but I was an armature middle weight champion in the San Antonio Golden Gloves.
