Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Blade
Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was little my grandparents owned a farm in Southern Ohio. I watched my grandmother for years can everything from the garden and wanting to be able to do that some day. We moved to Texas and didn’t really know anyone, so my mother in law and I decided to start up a market business. At first we started with lots of different things in the booth and 1 flavor of jam. Market after market we slowly added more jam and less of the other stuff. Until in 2017 we made the switch to all jams/jellies and became We Be JAM’N. We started off slowly and have grown this into what it is over the last 8 years. We try to offer the most unique jams and jellies and have added peanut butter, salsa and pie fillings over the years. We set up every Saturday at the New Braunfels Farmers Market from 9-1. We have 2 other once a month markets which are: 1st Saturday of every month is Gruene Heritage Market 9-6 and the 3rd weekend of every month is Gruene Market Days 9-5.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The process has been about as smooth as it could be. Yes there have been trials along the way, we stayed open through all of Covid while wearing masks in over 100 temps. But all in all I wouldnt have it another way. There is something about being your own boss that nothing else will compare.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We strive to be as unique and eye catching as possible. Customers first react to your set up. If your set up is nice and inviting that allows the customers to get intrigued. Add a board with specials to draw them all the way in. We try and talk with each of our customers and make them feel welcome. Offer samples, so they can really see how good our products are. We also offer a recycle program where you receive a discount off your purchase with the return of a canning jar.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We are mother and daughter in law. Most people assume we are mother and daughter but we are actually only related by marriage. I married her son Travis 19 years ago.
