Meet Raylene Macias of Tox by Raylene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raylene Macias

Hi Raylene, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a registered nurse in an intensive care unit at one of the largest hospitals in San Antonio. COVID hits. There were so many stressors during the 3 years of COVID and caring for critically ill patients that I was to the point of quitting my nursing career. I was emotionally and physically drained. So I started to look at other things I could do. I am not a girly girl. I don’t do all the makeup trends, I don’t dress in all the latest fashion trends. However I did want to still look and feel like a beautiful woman when I got out of bed and that’s what sparked an interest. I started looking into esthetician licenses maybe even doing eyelash extensions but I was struggling to give up my nursing license and degree. Then I looked into what I can do with a nursing license outside the hospital. “Soft Nursing” is what social media calls it. It’s basically jobs which are not in the hospital and doesn’t require the labor needed to care for patients. I stumbled upon nurse injectors. I know so many people who love getting Botox and occasionally filler. I did some research and found a couple of classes to take. I was deemed competent in skills for neurotoxins and dermal fillers. I found Monarch Master Injectors who provided additional education and a medical director and took off from there. I first started as a mobile injector to friends and family and built a social media platform. A good word was spread for my services so I decided to transition to a studio. I am still a full time ICU nurse till this day. Critical care is so rewarding and becoming a nurse injector has added additional valuable to my nursing career. I feel value in helping my clients with boosting their confidence.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles I’ve come across is the growth in injectors. Texas is a wild state but there is benefit. And what I mean by that is anyone in Texas can be an injector. You do not have to be a nurse, doctor, or PA. As long as you have been taught how to inject and you have a medical director to sign you off, you can inject. Long story short, the competition. Other struggles have been being a wife, a mom with young children who are growing, working as a full time nurse and running a mini business all in one day.

As you know, we’re big fans of Tox by Raylene. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m an independent nurse injector. I focus on natural enhancement with neurotoxins and dermal fillers. I also focus on overall wellness with vitamin injections, IV therapy and weight loss injections. The big thing I wanted to make sure of is to provide affordable services.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the culture of San Antonio. We are a melting pot of cultures and all you have to do is drive around.
Least favorite thing… traffic and construction zones.
