Meet Albert Gonzales of Military City Air conditioning and heating.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Gonzales

Hi Albert , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Albert Gonzales is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and the founder and owner of Military City Air Conditioning and Heating LLC in San Antonio, Texas.

Born and raised on the East Side of San Antonio, Albert later settled on the North Side. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps after running out of college funds. During his military service, he was stationed in Japan, Iraq, California, and Afghanistan.

After completing his service, Albert pursued HVAC training at a vocational college and has since been committed to delivering excellent customer service and reliable HVAC solutions. During this time, he also co-founded Mira Medals LLC, a company specializing in designing and producing Fiesta Medals and other promotional items. This venture allowed him to support local nonprofits and small businesses by creating fun and unique Fiesta Medals.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Albert founded Military City Air Conditioning and Heating. While starting an HVAC company wasn’t part of his original plan, his reputation for honest, high-quality work quickly helped the business take off. Since then, the company has continued to grow, providing exceptional service to the San Antonio community. Albert is also proud to be a contractor for Meals on Wheels’ Veterans Division, helping provide home repairs and improvements for elderly veterans in San Antonio.

A dedicated family man, Albert is passionate about giving back to his local and veteran communities. His hobbies include golfing, dancing, enjoying cigars, supporting local comedy shows, and spending time with family and friends.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“It hasn’t been a smooth road.”

Albert had a rough childhood. His mother struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse, and his father was killed by a drunk driver when Albert was just two months old.

At 14 or 15, his mother kicked him out of the house. He moved between friends’ and family members’ homes until he managed to get a job and rent a couch at a friend’s apartment while still in high school.

Despite these challenges, he stayed focused, did well in school, and was an active member of the ROTC program at Robert E. Lee High School. After graduating, he attended a technical college in Houston, Texas, to study auto mechanics. However, after nine weeks, his scholarship money ran out, and he was forced to withdraw due to a lack of tuition funds. Because he wasn’t legally emancipated, the school required his mother’s financial information for FAFSA and student loans—but he couldn’t reach her. With no way to continue, he returned to San Antonio and worked as a mechanic before eventually joining the Marine Corps.

During his service, Albert survived two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Iraq, a suicide bomber climbed onto his truck and detonated, but he made it out alive. In Afghanistan, he survived a roadside IED explosion. Today, as a disabled veteran, he continues to deal with PTSD and other physical injuries.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Over the years, customer satisfaction in the HVAC industry has often been an afterthought. During my time in the U.S. Marine Corps, I developed a deep commitment to service, and I knew that after my military career, I wanted to continue making a difference.

When I returned home to San Antonio, I knew I wanted to work with my hands and provide real value to people. That led me to attend an HVAC vocational college, where I gained the skills to help customers solve their heating and cooling issues. Since then, I have been dedicated to delivering excellent customer service and quality workmanship.

At Military City Air Conditioning and Heating LLC, we’ve built our business on the foundation of honesty, reliability, and integrity. Our mission is simple: to provide top-quality HVAC services with a customer-first approach.

Whether you need expert HVAC installations, repairs, or maintenance, our highly trained team is ready to assist. We carefully recruit, train, and empower skilled technicians to ensure the best possible service for our customers.

We take pride in being a 5-star company, offering honest and affordable HVAC solutions you can trust!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Taking risks has been a constant part of my journey. At an early age, I learned that one of the only ways to improve yourself or your situation is by stepping outside your comfort zone and taking chances.

From navigating a difficult childhood to enlisting in the Marine Corps, every major decision I’ve made required a leap of faith. Joining the Marines was a huge risk, but it gave me discipline, resilience, and a sense of purpose that shaped who I am today. Later, starting my own businesses was another big challenge—there were no guarantees, just a belief in myself and my ability to succeed.

Every risk I’ve taken, whether personal or professional, has come with its own set of challenges, but they’ve also led to growth and opportunity. I’ve learned that calculated risks are necessary if you want to build something meaningful, and I continue to embrace them as I grow my business and serve my community.
