Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Peek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Peek

Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My first exposure to baby gear delivery services was when my second son had just been born and my family all decided to meet up in Florida for Christmas. I was trying to figure out where my son was gonna sleep while we were there and the vacation rental host mentioned that there were baby gear rental places where you could rent cribs, pack and plays and such, and that was a surprise to me because I didn’t know that such a business existed.

Shortly after that, after we got home, I heard about a company that was doing this nationwide where you could be your own business, but it was a platform through which customers could reserve baby gear, similar to Airbnb and Uber, which are platforms. I thought it sounded interesting, but I thought that would never work in San Antonio, and then I thought to myself, well why wouldn’t it? We have theme parks, we have the Riverwalk, we have military bases so I decided to go for it and now almost 8 years later I am still delivering baby gear and just had one of my best years yet in 2024.

One of the things that I love about it is that it’s a super family, friendly business, my kids come with me on deliveries all the time and help out and are welcomed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging part about this business, to me, is that most of my customers don’t live here. They are traveling to here from other places, and all over the place. So it’s been a challenge to figure out how to market the business in this area when the people who are using the services don’t live here. However, through BabyQuip’s national marketing we reach some of those customers and then also marketing here locally we do reach family members who are hosting little visitors, and also have started to rent to some local families too for some higher end products that are a try before you buy type of rental or maybe just somebody wanting something like a big four seater stroller wagon for the weekend to go to SeaWorld.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I rent baby gear to traveling families. Families who are visiting San Antonio or the Hill Country from anywhere else in the US or around the world, if they need cribs, strollers, car seats, high chairs, toys, or any other baby gear while traveling they can rent it from me.

What sets me apart is the variety of items that I offer, as I want customers to be able to rent the items that they have at home because I know they’re familiar with them. I also have a good variety of higher end baby here as well.

What I am most proud of is my dedication to serving my customers in addition to the variety of products that I offer and just really making it easier for families to travel and have less stress and less gear to lug around.
